Richard
P. Arber Associates completed preliminary
design, design, and construction-phase
services for this project that
was awarded Design-Build Project
of the Year in 1998. The pump station
was designed to provide up to 7,500
gallons per minute of water and
was designed to maintain full working
pressure in the piping system during
the emergency use of fire equipment
in the area. The project was completed
in 1998.
The City of Westminster selected
the Design-Build project delivery
approach due to a very aggressive
schedule, driven by rapid development
occurring in the area. The Design-Build
team of Western Summit Constructors,
Inc. and Richard P. Arber Associates,
Inc. was selected by the City of
Westminster based on team qualifications
and project delivery cost.
The
project was completed five months
earlier than would have been expected
with typical project delivery approaches
and provided a means for shared
cost savings between the Design-Build
Team and the City of Westminster.
"This Design-Build project
sets the trend for the way we
will do future projects. The
Westminster Utilities Division
was so pleased with the staff
involvement and management of
the Design-Build Project that
a presentation will be given
to the City Council to educate
them on the benefits of this
innovative project approach."
