Arapahoe Water and Wastewater Authority (ACWWA), Colorado - Lone Tree Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion
Richard P. Arber Associates designed the 3.6 mgd expansion to the Lone
Tree Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. The plant includes
provisions for reuse of the treated wastewater for landscape
irrigation. Located in the Cherry Creek Basin, just upstream of
Cherry Creek Reservoir, the facility faces a stringent discharge
limit for phosphorus that requires tertiary treatment. Key
components of the project include:
- Extensive treatment
technology evaluation of
membrane bioreactors,
biological nutrient removal
(BNR’s), membrane filtration
and sand filtration.
- Design of a BNR and sand
filtration system for
biological removal of
nitrogen and phosphorous.
- Rotating influent screens.
- Mixed liquor return flexibility.
- Absorption Clarifiers.
- Sulfuric Acid for pH Control.
- Sodium Aluminates for Phosphorus Removal.
- Rotating Drum Thickeners.
- Aerobic Digestion.
- Centrifuges for Sludge.
- Polymer Feed System.
