City of Alamosa, Colorado - Arsenic Treatment Project
Richard P. Arber Associates designed a 5.0 mgd arsenic removal treatment plant for the City of
Alamosa. Alamosa is the largest system in
Colorado that must treat its drinking water specifically for arsenic. The arsenic levels in
the City’s well water range from 20-70 parts per billion (ppb), well above the maximum
contaminant level of 10 ppb. Key components of the project include:
- Pilot testing of coagulant aided microfiltration, fixed bed ion exchange and continuous
stirred ion exchange.
- Coagulation with Ferric Chloride.
- Submerged Membrane Treatment.
- Chlorination.
- Permitting Assistance.
- Design Services.
- Cost Estimating.
- Consent Order Negotiation Assistance.
- Construction Administration.
- O&M Manual Preparation.
